June Wrap Up

DSC_05912

It’s the end of June? Where is May again? Why is everything going by so fast? May seriously feels like yesterday.

I’m doing this new thing called: failing my reading responsibilities. In return, I do so much other things I had never imagined doing. If you’ve read my #AmCurrently, you know I had to go away. I had a trial week at a hotel to see if I liked the job. To be honest, everyone had one and I did not. I got hired trough an agency, so the trial week was not there, but still. I got a housekeeping job. Let me tell you this, I have respect for people doing that. It is physically very hard work. I couldn’t keep up and that’s why I went home again. Even though I was really bummed, I have to remember that I did it. I truly did it! I went there and did it. Last year that wasn’t even imaginable. So, I’m quite proud. It didn’t go as planned, but still. I faced my fears and got so much more in return. That’s what I wanted.

Alright, let’s dive into the books I’ve read!

The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.

And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny.

But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone — or something — starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects… Harry Potter himself?

Was it that obvious? Probably. I love my Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone illustrated edition. I go through it from time to time and absolutely love the illustrations. They make good props, too. I’m mostly excited to see my favorite characters, like Remus and Tonks and Teddy. Please illustrate them all! I’m begging!

I can’t wait to see the illustrations. It makes the experience even more magical.

Are you excited for the illustrated version of Chamber of Secrets? What are you eagerly anticipating this week?

Goodreads Summary:

Maire is a baker with an extraordinary gift: she can infuse her treats with emotions and abilities, which are then passed on to those who eat them. She doesn’t know why she can do this and remembers nothing of who she is or where she came from.

When marauders raid her town, Maire is captured and sold to the eccentric Allemas, who enslaves her and demands that she produce sinister confections, including a witch’s gingerbread cottage, a living cookie boy, and size-altering cakes.

During her captivity, Maire is visited by Fyel, a ghostly being who is reluctant to reveal his connection to her. The more often they meet, the more her memories return, and she begins to piece together who and what she really is—as well as past mistakes that yield cosmic consequences.

From the author of The Paper Magician series comes a haunting and otherworldly tale of folly and consequence, forgiveness and redemption.

#AmCurrently – WHERE I PAINT FOR DAYS, GOT A JOB FAR AWAY FROM HOME AND TRY TO FIND MY INSTAGRAM-SELF

DSC_0408

It is time for a little update, since my life keeps getting turned upside down. Yes, my friends, it is time for another #AmCurrently. I’ve found the concept on Kat her wonderful blog @ Kat Silver Reads.

#AmCurrently painting

I am redecorating my room. Which is fun, but also a lot of work. I’ve been painting for the last two days now and I can finally say that one wall is officially white now. Victory! I’m going from grey to white and am loving the outcome. Something calmer.

#AmCurrently freaking out

Well, kind of. I’m still relaxed, but the nerves will come. I promise you that. I got a job offer today and I took it. Which means I’ll be going away. It’s on the Frisian Islands (Wadden Islands), the islands of the Netherlands. I’ll be staying there, which is quite frightening. Especially because it’s all quite a big step for me. However, I want to make that step. I want to face my fears. It’ll be truly frightening, but once I’ve done it, I’ll feel better.

#AmCurrently finding my Instagram-self

I LOVE bookstagram. I didn’t know I would be on Instagram this much. I love taking pictures and trying to improve myself. If you’ve noticed I kind of changed my theme. Well, not that I had one really. I’m trying to find my theme and I think I’m succeeding in a way.

#AmCurrently becoming a college student

I passed my finals! I haven’t mentioned it on my blog yet. I FINALLY DID! I’ll graduate on July 6 and then I’m officially done. It feels kind of weird, since I’ve been in high school for quite a while, but on the other side I’m so relieved. I’m going to study Communication and Multimedia Design and I’m really looking forward to it.

So much exciting news! What are you currently doing? Any exciting news?

Goodreads Summary:

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena’s family of powerful Supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.

Sometimes life-ending.

Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan’s eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there’s no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town’s tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.

‘Why didn’t you post this sooner, Nienke?’ You question. Wasn’t I thinking about Harry Potter? Yes, I was. I still cry over Remadora fanfiction.

I was so busy looking for other books, that I kind of forgot to post Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Yes, I sometimes fail at life. This is one of them. Anyway, I’m so thrilled there’s coming an eighth book. When I heard last year I couldn’t believe it. ANOTHER HARRY POTTER BOOK. BLESS THE LORDS ABOVE US. I still need to pre-order it, which I’ll do as soon as I have some money saved. I can’t wait to see what J.K. Rowling has in store for us!

What are you eagerly anticipating this week? Are you thinking about Harry Potter 24/7? Does fanfiction make you cry? ARE YOU CURRENTLY SCREAMING: MORE HARRY POTTER IN A MONTH?!

I bet you are. 😉

Wylie Dalton didn’t believe in fairy tales or love at first sight.

Then she met a real-life Peter Pan.

When Wylie encounters Phinn—confident, mature, and devastatingly handsome—at a party the night before her brother goes to juvie, she can’t believe how fast she falls for him. And that’s before he shows her how to fly.

Soon Wylie and her brothers find themselves whisked away to a mysterious tropical island off the coast of New York City where nobody ages beyond seventeen and life is a constant party. Wylie’s in heaven: now her brother won’t go to jail and she can escape her over-scheduled life with all its woes and responsibilities—permanently.

But the deeper Wylie falls for Phinn, the more she begins to discover has been kept from her and her brothers. Somebody on the island has been lying to her, but the truth can’t stay hidden forever.

I’ll admit that I’ve never read a Peter Pan retelling, but, I quite like this synopsis. I wasn’t a big fan of Peter Pan when I was little, because Beauty and the Beast existed, but I loved the Peter Pan and Pan movie later on. This sounds really promising and I love retellings. I’m excited to find out if it’s any good. 🙂

Yesterday the mailman came with a little box full of books. Yes, my friends, I was quite shocked. Rianne, one of my best friends, who’ll be mentioned here a lot, cleaned up her room and decided to sent these jewels to me. Which is unbelievable kind and I love her all the more for it. Who am I kidding? My love for Rianne was already to the moon. Thank you again! ❤

The additions:

I also received a Suffer Love magnet and bookmark, which I’ve won in a giveaway. 🙂
